Fue espectacular la remontada de Shirov, que consiguió dos victorias en las dos últimas rondas, lo que le permitió terminar en tercer lugar, empatado a puntos con el segundo y el cuarto clasificados, que fueron Movsesian y Kasimdzhanov respectivamente.
