Organizado por el recientemente ampliado Saint Louis Chess Club (STLCC), cada sección del Campeonato de Ajedrez de Estados Unidos reúne a 12 jugadores de élite que compiten del 12 al 24 de octubre por un fondo total de premios superior a los 400.000 dólares.
El control de tiempo es de 90 minutos para las primeras 40 jugadas, con 30 minutos adicionales para el resto de la partida y un incremento de 30 segundos por jugada desde el inicio de la partida.
