Se juegan por el sistema de liga en el tradicional De Moriaan Center de Wijk aan Zee. Los tres grupos de grandes maestros tienen 14 jugadores. Todas las rondas comienzan a las 13:30 horas, excepto la última del 29 de enero, que comenzará a las 12:30 horas. Los días de descanso son: 18, 23 y 26 de enero. Ritmo de juego: el control de tiempo es de 100 minutos para 40 movimientos, seguidos por 50 minutos para 20 movimientos y luego 15 minutos para las jugadas restantes con 30 segundos de incremento por cada jugada desde la primera.
