El primer torneo del Grand Prix Femenino 2022-2023 se está jugando del 18 al 29 de septiembre en Astaná. El torneo es un cerrado a una vuelta con 12 participantes. Se emplea un control de tiempo clásico (90 minutos para 40 jugadas; 30 minutos hasta el final de la partida; 30 segundos de incremento desde la primera jugada).
Con 16 de las mejores jugadoras del mundo como participantes, el Grand Prix consta de cuatro torneos. Cada jugadora participará en tres de los cuatro torneos. En cada torneo WGP, cada jugadora obtiene puntos WGP según su posición en la clasificación final.
Las dos jugadoras que consigan más puntos acumulados en la serie WGP se clasificarán para el Torneo de Candidatas de la FIDE 2023-24.
