La primera partida fue alocada, pero justo cuando parecía que Adams iba a ganar, perdió una torre y a continuación también la partida. La segunda partida comenzó con Donchenko jugando muy sólido, pero entonces le permitió a Adams que éste consiguiera una iniciativa durante la fase final de la partida. Adams logró ganar al final. Por lo tanto el duelo se decidiría en la partida Armagedón.
El segundo duelo del día enfrentó a Matthias Bluebaum y Jorden van Foreest. El perdedor tendría que abandonar la competición. La primera partida fue muy intensa. Matthias alcanzó una posición ventajosa, pero la desperdició. Le costó recuperarse del sufrimiento. En la segunda partida ganó un peón, pero no tenía la autoconfianza suficiente como para aprovecharse de ello. Jorden ganó también esta segunda partida y se ha clasificado para la siguiente ronda.
