30/03/2004 – La novena jornada, tras la jornada de descanso del lunes, ha servido para que Alexander Morozevich se aupe hasta la primera posición de la clasificación combinada, compartida con Kramnik. A ciegas es líder en solitario y en rápidas manda Anand. Morozevich se impuso 2:0 a Topalov. Kramnik ganó a la ciega a Bareev, pero perdió en la partida rápida, cuando se enfrascó en un ataque que Evgeny pudo parar. Shirov y Anand hicieron tablas en ambas modalidades. Vallejo amarró medio punto a la ciega frente a Gelfand, pero perdió con el tablero a la vista.
