01/07/2004 – En el diario ecuatoriano El Comercio encontramos la noticia de una nueva variante del ajedrez, el Xymyx, desarrollada por el pintor ecuatoriano Javier Lizarzaburu, a quien el 11 de septiembre le cambió la vida y se decidió a poner en práctica una idea que ya le rondaba desde antaño. Parte de las reglas básicas del juego pero incorpora la dimensión de temporalidad: las jugadas son registradas simultáneamente por ambos jugadores y la información es enviada por medio de un chip a un árbitro virtual que analiza las jugadas.
