Kramnik ha jugado contra Anand innumerables partidas y ambos se conocen bien.
Para el ruso era la segunda partida consecutiva con blancas, pero el Campeón del
Mundo Anand estaba bien preparado y no tuvo problemas para igualar.
Posteriormente hubo algunas pequeñas escaramuzas y peleas, pero el equilibrio
nunca se vio seriamente amenazado.
Gelfand - Caruana también terminó en empate, pero no le
faltó contenido. En una Grünfeld India con 3.f3. Ambos bandos maniobraron
tratando de situar a sus piezas en posiciones adecuadas para el ataque y
la defensa. La batalla se desencadenó en el centro y tras una simplificación
masiva se dio paso a un final equilibrado.
