14/04/2017 – Desde 2011 el ajedrez es una asignatura obligatoria en las escuelas primarias de Armenia. El proyecto ha sido planificado muy escrupulosamente y se ha puesto en práctica de manera sistemática. Al final del año escolar, los alumnos de primaria participan en una especie de "olimpiada de ajedrez de escolar de primaria". Entre los años 2014 y 2015 la jugaron 15.000 alumnos. Ya falta poco para que todos los habitantes de Armenia sepan jugar al ajedrez.
04/02/2017 – La sede de la prueba fue el Centro de Ajedrez Petrosian en Ereván. Con una victoria en la última ronda, Hovhannes Gabuzyan se aseguró el título. La decisión de la competición femenina, igualmente se hizo esperar hasta el último momento. Se coronó campeona Maria Gevorgyan. El presidente de Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan visitó el torneo.
