Jeffrey Ashton, es maestro nacional de ajedrez de EE. UU. Trabaja como entrenador de ajedrez, organiza torneos y es dueño de la US academia "Panda Chess Academy", en Houston, Tejas. Estudió en la Universidad de Tejas, en Dallas a base de una beca de ajedrez. Tiene un máster en Psicología.

18/03/2022 – Para los principiantes es importante aprender a detectar las amenazas de mate. Los entrenadores les suelen plantear tareas del tipo: "Juegan las negras y se defienden". Por ejemplo, el entrenador podría preguntarle a su alumno, cómo haría para afrontar un jaque del pasillo o un jaque del pastor. Ahora, lo de girar el tablero, también es una función muy útilo del programa ChessBase para jugadores de un nivel más avanzado. El maestro nacional estadounidense, Jeffrey Ashton ha escrito un tutorial para dar algunas pistas a los entrenadores de cómo pueden crear este tipo de ejercicios y hojas de trabajo para sus alumnos donde las piezas negras aparecen en la parte inferior del tablero, es decir, como si uno estuviese sentado frente al tablero, jugando con negras. ChessBase 16 dispone de unas funciones muy prácticas pàra ello.
