26/01/2023 – Desde comienzos del siglo XXI, el consenso actual de la historiografía especializada en el ajedrez sitúa el nacimiento del moderno (u occidental) en el antiguo Reino de Valencia, en pleno Siglo de Oro Valenciano. El escritor y ajedrecista segorbino Francesc Vicent fue el autor del primer tratado conocido sobre el ajedrez moderno, el Llibre dels jochs partits dels scachs en nombre de 100, impreso en Valencia el 15 de mayo de 1495 en la imprenta de Lope de Roca Alemany y Pere Trincher.
