Tim Wall es maestro FIDE, periodista y entrenador de ajedrez. Además es organizador FIDE y vive en Newcastle upon Tyne, Inglaterra. Entre los años 1999-2016 trabajó como periodista y editor en Rusia y Azerbaiyán. Publicó artículos en The Moscow Times, The Moscow News y Caspian Business News. En febrero de 2018, organizó el Magistral de Northumbria retomando una serie de torneos que había comenzado a comienzos de los años 1990.
13/07/2023 – Sea cual fuese la idea de un acontecimiento ajedrecístico tradicional, probablemente no se parezca en nada a lo que es la fiesta "ChessFest", la gran fiesta del ajedrez en la Plaza de Trafalgar, en Londres. Mientras que en la mayoría de los torneos la acción se desarrolla a puerta cerrada, accesible sólo a entendidos y conocedores del juego, la ChessFest da la vuelta a todo eso. Se trata de que el ajedrez se "celebre y festeje" a lo grande, al aire libre, y con la vista del público masivo. La próxima fiesta dle ajedrez se llevará a cabo el próximo domingo. 25/08/2021 – El primer Festival de Ajedrez al aire libre de Gran Bretaña, el "ChessFest", contó con 6.000 espectadores en la Plaza de Trafalgar de Londres. Dentro de las múltimples actividades ajedrecísticas que se llevaron a cabo dentro del marco del festival había partidas de ajedrez viviente con actores, simultáneas a cargo de grandes maestros, clases magistrales para el gran público, montajes de vídeo. Los organizadores de la iniciativa "Chess in Schools and Communities" han comentado que les gustaría organizar este espectáctulo a ritmo anual a partir de ahora.
