01/11/2021 – La paraguaya Gabriela Vargas es una ajedrecista "polifuncional", además de ser Maestra Internacional, título obtenido hace dos años, tiene otros títulos FIDE: es instructora de escuelas, entrenadora y organizadora de la Federación Internacional de Ajedrez. Y no solo eso, a Gabriela le falta apenas una materia para graduarse como Analista de Sistemas. También es dueña y profesora de la Academia de ajedrez Bobby Fischer, ubicada en la calle 25 de mayo, en Asunción, Paraguay. La entrevista por Pablo Alejandro Acosta, con Gabriela Vargas.

En 2008, se convirtió en la primera mujer a defender el primer tablero de la selección paraguaya en las olimpiadas de Dresde, en Alemania, torneo en el cual terminó invicta.
En 2009, consiguió el título de WMF, siendo la primera mujer en conseguir una titulación FIDE en su país.
Aprendió a jugar a los 14 años, con el Maestro Fide cubano Angel Hernandez que le enseñó la belleza del juego posicional "un día mi hermano menor me ganó una partida, desde ese día nunca más paré de jugar", comenta Gabriela.
Actualmente, ella y su marido, el Maestro Internacional Ricardo Kropff, son unos habitué de los torneos más importantes que hay por todo Brasil. Ella visita las tierras cariocas desde hace más 14 años, cuando defendió a las ciudades de Pindamonhangaba y Mogi das Cruzes, en los Juegos Abiertos del Estado de San Pablo.
