18/02/2022 – Entre el 12 y el 19 de febrero del corriente se está disputando la quinta edición del Abierto de Montevideo “Copa Marcel Duchamp 2022”. El evento que ya es un clásico del ajedrez sudamericano, se juega en las magníficas instalaciones de la Intendencia de Montevideo, dividido en dos salas: la Sala Roja en donde se encuentran los primeros 36 tableros con transmisión en vivo y el Salón Dorado donde se disputan las partidas de la mesa 37 en adelante. En la parte deportiva, luego de concluida la ronda número 6, encontramos un único puntero que es el rankeado número uno y gran favorito del torneo, el GM paraguayo Neuris Delgado que totaliza 5,5 puntos, cediendo solo media unidad ante el MI Bernardo Roselli Mailhe de Uruguay en la ronda 4. Luego con 5 puntos vienen cinco contendientes: los GMs Robert Hungaski de Estados Unidos, Darcy Lima de Brasil y Federico Pérez Ponsa de Argentina como el MI Lucas Coro y el MF Nicolás López de Uruguay.

En la ronda 7 que se encuentra en juego en estos momentos, se dan los enfrentamientos de todos ellos en donde se podrán vislumbrar los favoritos para el cierre del evento, en mesa 1 el MI Lucas Coro frente al GM Neuris Delgado, mesa 2 el MF Nicolás López contra el GM Federico Pérez Ponsa y en mesa 3 los GMs Robert Hungaski y Darcy Lima.
Es de destacar la alta camaradería que se vive en el torneo entre todos los jugadores y el estricto apego a las normas sanitarias que rigen por el covid en el país, lo que hace que esta oportunidad donde se viven muchos reencuentros sea una verdadera fiesta.
Además de la competencia, el lunes 14 y el jueves 17 se realizaron por la WGM Claudia Amura dos charlas en relación con el ajedrez: “Igualdad de oportunidades” y “El ajedrez como herramienta de inclusión social”. Asimismo, el miércoles 16 se realizó un taller de actualización de árbitros organizado por el Comité Técnico de Árbitros de la Federación Uruguaya de Ajedrez, impartido por la IA Sabrina de San Vicente, con la participación de 14 árbitros.
El evento, que ha sido apoyado financieramente por el Open Aid Project de la FIDE, cuenta con 7500 dólares en premios en total, divididos en USD 6000 para la categoría Absoluta, USD 1000 para la categoría Femenina y USD 500 para la categoría Veteranos (+65).
