En su artículo, Jonathan Speelman explora y analiza ese fenómeno de fondo y concluye: "Se podría decir que en cierto modo significa una forma de partenogénesis, ya que la pieza (como Atenea de la cabeza de Zeus) salta al tablero en todo su esplendor, mientras el peón queda sin vida dentro del proceso e inevitablemente".

Algo así como el partenogénesis
