Shakhriyar Mamedyarov ganó con negras frente a Vishy Anand y ha tomado el mando en solitario con 3,5 puntos. Por otra parte, Fabiano Caruana se apuntó una victorias con blancas frente a Maxime Vachier-Lagrave en un duelo teórico. Las otras tres partidas en primera instancia concluyeron en tablas.
