Pavel Eljanov ha ganado puntos Elo en las partidas clásicas del torneo, en total unos 35,6 puntos. Esto le basta para ascender al puesto número 13 del escalafón mundial de la FIDE. Incluso ha adelantado a Grischuk. Todo eso no le consolará mucho en un primer instante...

Peter Svidler se había incorporado al equipo de comentaristas y analizó las partidas de desempate en directo con Sergei Shipov. Le interrumpieron cuando la última partida había terminado para asistir al sorteo de los colores para la final del Grand Prix. Svidler va a jugar con blancas en la primera partida. Hoy es día de descanso en Bakú. Los jugadores van a tener un momento para tomarse un respiro antes de dirigir sus pasos hacia la interesantísima final, al mejor de cuatro.
