24/10/2022 – El joven madrileño David Antón, es un Gran Maestro del mundo. Nació en Murcia en el año 1995. Pero fue en la capital española donde dio sus primeros pasos en el ajedrez cuando tenía apenas cuatro años. De niño tuvo muchos profesores pero destaca al Maestro Internacional David Martínez "Divis" como su único entrenador. A los 13 años gana destaque nacionalmente, consiguiendo el campeonato español sub-14. Desde entonces se coronó 8 veces campeón de España en las categorías menores. La adolescencia de Antón fue marcada por una carrera muy ascendente: a los 14 años consiguió el título de Maestro Fide, a los 16 el de Maestro Internacional y a los 17 años consiguió el título de Gran Maestro. En diciembre de 2013 logró la medalla de plata en el Campeonato del Mundo Sub-18 en Al Ain (Emiratos Árabes).
El auge de la popularidad de su carrera se produjo en el Campeonato de Europa de 2014, celebrado en Ereván (Armenia), donde se proclamó subcampeón de Europa absoluto. Partiendo de la posición 99 en el ranking inicial, y tras vencer con autoridad a grandes maestros de la élite como Étienne Bacrot y Baadur Jobava. Con este resultado se clasificó para la Copa del Mundo de 2015. Con solo 19 años formó parte del equipo olímpico español que disputó la 41ª olimpiada de ajedrez que se celebró en Tromsø (Noruega), defendiendo el segundo tablero y contribuyendo a la clasificación de España en el décimo lugar.
David también se ha alzado con el título de campeón de España de Blitz en los años 2014 y 2015. Fue campeón de España universitario en 2014 y campeón absoluto en 2020. Ganó el torneo de aspirantes Tata Steel, lo que lo clasificó para jugar el torneo principal en 2021. Terminó con 3 derrotas y el resto tablas, pero después de ese torneo "el Niño" Antón dejó de ser un niño, para convertirse en un Super GM. Sin embargo, David ha mostrado su mejor ajedrez en el Torneo Grand Swiss en la Isla de Man. Tras 11 rondas terminó en 5 lugar, adelante, nada más y nada menos, que de el actual campeón mundial Magnus Carlsen.
Esperemos que "el niño" vuelva a superar la barrera de los 2700 puntos de ELO, una barrera que lo colocará nuevamente en la élite del ajedrez mundial.
