La Gran Maestra Maryana Huda vive en Morshyn, al oeste de Ucrania, en un territorio que pertenecía a Polonia en el período de entreguerras, y que en 1939, tras la invasión soviética a Polonia, se incorporó a la URSS, logrando su independencia definitiva en agosto de 1991. Ahora su independencia se ha visto nuevamente mancillada tras la invasión rusa. Morshyn está ubicada en una de las regiones más seguras de Ucrania, es por eso que después de la invasión, se ha convertido en una zona a la que muchos civiles inocentes buscan escapar. Quiero dejar en claro que el objetivo de la entrevista fue preponderar la carrera de Maryana, pero se me fue imposible no hacerle algunas preguntas geopolíticas.
Maryana Huda comenzó su viaje en el mundo de los trebejos a la edad de 11 años. El padre de Maryana es Candidato a Maestro, entonces la niña aprendió a jugar muy bien. Rápidamente se convirtió en una de las jugadoras ucranianas más prometedoras. Por aquella época, el ajedrez ucraniano estaba en uno de los momentos más importantes de su historia. Cuando Maryana cumplía 14 años, había un Campeonato Mundial en disputa, que tuvo como contrincantes finales a dos ucranianos: los Grandes Maestros Ivanchuk y Ponomariov.
En el año 2006 consiguió los títulos de Maestra Internacional y Gran Maestra, ¡si, todo en el mismo año!. Pero su maestría no es solo en el ajedrez, tiene un máster en Lengua Inglesa, de la Facultad de Lenguas Extranjeras de la Universidad de Chernivtsi. ¡Y no solo eso! También habla los idiomas ucraniano, ruso, inglés, polaco, español y catalán.
Lejos de dar lugar a una entrevista politizada o un relato de supervivencia, esta conversación nos permite entender una forma de conducta en la vida de los ucranianos y una riqueza formidable en su optimismo de ver la realidad.
Esta gran maestra de la vida, es contratada para entrenar jugadores de todo el mundo. Eso indica el alto respeto que inspira la "Escuela Ucraniana", y basta con decir, para fundamentar su prestigio, que ella aprendió con jugadores que nacieron en suelo ucraniano, tales como Efim Bogoljubow, Nicolas Rossolimo, David Bronstein, Efim Geller, Mark Taimanov, Oleg Romanishin, Alexander Beliavsky, Vasili Ivanchuk y el ex campeón mundial Ruslan Ponomariov. Ucrania es la tierra donde nació Karjakin, y donde sus familiares aún siguen viviendo (es difícil entender porque se ha convertido en un fiel defensor de Putin). Desde aquí el respeto y admiración para los grandes maestros Georgy Timoshenko, Oleksandr Sulypa e Igor Kovalenko, que encabezan el ejército de ajedrecistas que está defendiendo a Ucrania. Como dijo recientemente Garry Kasparov, "Esto no es ajedrez. Aquí no hay empate".
