25/03/2019 – En la cuarta ronda del Campeonato de EE.UU., disputada el sábado, Ray Robson derrotó con negras al que entonces mandaba en solitario, Jeffery Xiong. Fabiano Caruana y Sam Sevian se dejaron escapar posibilidades ganadoras frente a Leinier Domínguez y Timur Gareyev. En la quinta ronda ayer, hubo dos partidas victoriosas tanto en la competición absoluta y en la femenina. Sam Sevian derrotó a Varuzhan Akobian con negras (en la foto) y se ha apuntado el grupo de líderes con 3/5 puntos. Por otra parte, Timur Gareyev se impuso a Awonder Liang. En la sección femenina, Tatev Abrahamyan y Carissa Yip fueron las vencedoras de la jornada. Actualmente se está disputando el Campeonato de EE.UU. en las secciones femenina y absoluta. La competición se disputa entre el 20 de marzo y el primero de abril en el club de ajedrez de San Luis (EE.UU.) Sam Shankland es el defensor del título en la sección abierta y el número dos del mundo, Fabiano Caruana, es el principal favorito. En la sección femenina, Irina Krush procurará defender el título de Campeona de EE.UU. Hay retransmisiones de las partidas a partir de las 19:00 CET.
