En una posición asimétrica de la variante Sveshnikov, Magnus Carlsen parecía haber alcanzado una ventaja y tenía las mejores posibilides para ganar. Pero Fabiano Caruana nuevamente se defendió con mucha precisión. Durante la fase final de la partida, Carlsen actuó de manera demasiado optimista. Perdi¡o un peón, pero logró mantener las tablas. A falta de las útlimas dos partidas clásicas del duelo, el marcador ahora está en 5:5. Hoy es día de descanso. El Campeonato del Mundo de Ajedrez comenzó hace dos semanas y hasta la fecha, todas las partidas disputadas han terminado en tablas. Eso sí, no han sido todas tablas aburridas. Magnus Carlsen tuvo una excelente oportunidad en la primera partida, pero Fabiano Caruana también alcanzó posiciones favorables en algunas de las demás partidas.
Para los medios de comunicación dirigidos al gran público, podría haber parecido que ha sido un duelo aburrido. Pero las dos super estrellas del ajedrez sí han demostrado grandes habilidades técnica. Desde luego, el duelo ha recibido una tremenda atención en los medios de comunicación en todo el mundo. El duelo hasta ha salido en las portadas de algunos periódicos.

Ahora tan solo quedan dos partidas a ritmo clásico. La undécima se disputará mañana, sábado y la última el lunes. Si después de eso permanecería el empate, se disputaría un duelo de desempate a partidas rápidas el día 28 de noviembre.
