Tras el Campeonato de Europa en 1996, la Copa del Mundo en 1998 y I Campeonato del Mundo de Aficionados en 2003, este año el torneo de Cap d'Agde nuevamente se disputará a ritmo de ajedrez rápido, al igual que en las ediciones de los últimos años.
Ayer se llevó a cabo la inauguración del torneo con la presentación de los jugadores. Hoy viernes 21 de octubre, se disputarán las primeras dos rondas a las 15:00 y a las 21:00 CEST (hora de Berlín/Madrid/París).
Los cuatro primeros disputarán una fase final por eliminatorias en las que las semifinales enfrentarán al primero contra el cuarto y al segundo contra el tercero. Los ganadores jugarán la gran final, que será el sábado, 29 de octubre.
