El colíder, Fabiano Caruana se sentía cómodo con las tablas que firmó con negras en su partida con Hikaru Nakamura. Maxime Vachier-Lagrave, que necesitaba sumar 3 puntos más para la clasificación absoluta del circuito del Grand Chess Tour, no estaba encantado con su empate contra Vishy Anand, pero aún le quedaban esperanzas para la última ronda de mañana. Sin embargo, la situación cambió de manera drástica cuando Magnus Carlsen cometió un error en su partida contra Ian Nepomniachtchi y perdió una pieza. El ruso se apuntó la tercera victoria consecutiva y ha tomado el mando en solitario. Este resultado da muy buenas posibilidades a Vachier-Lagrave de sumar los puntos necesarios para ganar la general del Grand Chess Tour y también puede albergar esperanzas de apuntarse la victoria compartida en Londres. La emoción no podría ser más grande dado que mañana Nepomniachtchi y Vachier-Lagrave se verán las caras en la última ronda del torneo y del circuito 2017.
