En la edición anterior, el Open contó con 249 ajedrecistas de 8 países. Según los organizadores, Kaiser Mafra y Marcelo Pomar, fue un número expresivo considerando las grandes dificultades para realizar el torneo debido a los problemas provocados por la pandemia.
