Jan-Krzysztof Duda tenía una buena posición pero no logró sacarle más provecho y finalmente firmó las paces con Shakhriyar Mamedyarov. Grand Prix de la FIDE en Riga
El segundo torneo de la serie del Grand Prix de la FIDE, un torneo por eliminación entre 16 jugadores, tiene un fondo de premios de €130.000, mientras que la serie en su totalidad entregará €280.000 adicionales, además de otorgar la clasificación al Torneo de Candidatos de 2020. Ian Nepomniachtchi ganó la primera etapa en Moscú.
