En la entrevista tras la partida, Peter Svidler no se mostró arrepentido por haber jugado una variante agresiva con negras a pesar de su derrota:
Es obvio que no estoy muy contento con lo que ocurrió hoy. Pensaba que había enfocado bien aquello. Quiero decir, he jugado prácticamente todos los movimientos posibles tras 3.f3, y opté por una línea que es la más agresiva y la más complicada que pudiera plantear. Pero creo que Radek simplemente jugó muchísimo mejor que yo hoy... Y vamos, sigo pensando que he elegido bien, pero simplemente no tengo mucha experiencia en este tipo de estructuras y eso sería el factor decisivo en esta partida.
