Durante mucho tiempo, parecía que la mayoría de los jugadores aspiraban a tablas tras el movimiento 40. Fabiano Caruana se aprovechó de la ventaja obtenida a lo largo de la apertura en su partida contra Arkadij Naiditsch y volvió a demostrar su brillantez. Con tan solo dama y caballo sobre el tablero, el estadounidense fue capaz de crear una peligrosa amenaza contra Naidtisch. Este último finalmente se derrumbó bajo la gran presión, Caruana ganó la partida y se apuntó al mando de Nikita Vitiugov y Maxime Vachier-Lagrave. Grenke Chess Classic 2018, tras 4 rondas
El Grenke Chess Open es el torneo abierto más grande de Europa. Se disputará entre el 29 de marzo y el 2 de abril en la Schwarzwaldhalle en Karlsruhe (Alemania). Hay tres grupos de juego (A, B y C). La bolsa de premios asciende a 60.000 euros. El ganador del grupo A recibirá un premio en metálico de 15.000 euros.
