El XX Festival de Ajedrez de Abu Dabi se celebró entre el 30 de junio y el 8 de julio en la ciudad de Abu Dabi, capital de los Emiratos Árabes. El torneo principal, el magistral, fue una competición por sistema suizo a 9 rondas con un control de tiempo de 90 minutos por jugador y partida y 30 segundos de incremento por movimiento. Los premio más elevados fueron de 8000, 6000, 4000, 2500, 2000 dólares estadounidenses.

En el torneo abierto participaron 124 jugadores y ganaron Behrang Kaboodi (IRI, Elo 1993) y Ahmed Al-Zayat (LBA, 2085) ya que ambos sumaron 8/9 puntos, uno más que el más cercano perseguidor.
El torneo juvenil, con 140 participantes fue ganado por el azerí Ismayil Shahaliyev (Elo 2056) con 6 puntos en siete rondas.
