El Torneo Regilor de este año se disputará en memoria de Elisabeta Polihroniade, organizadora principal de las ediciones anteriores y que falleció en 2016 a los 80 años de edad.

La ceremonia inaugural y el sorteo de los emparejamientos se llevará a cabo en Bucarest el 26 de noviembre. el acto contará con la presencia de Anatoly Karpov, Kirsan Ilyumzhinov y muchos invitados especiales más.
El 26 de noviembre, Anatoly Karpov dio una exhibición de partidas simultáneas.
En paralelo los integrantes del equipo nacional están jugando entre ellos.

Torneo de liga de ajedrez rápido con lcomponentes de las selecciones nacionales de Rumanía absoluta y femenina.
Sistema de juego:
Hou Yifan y Vladimir Kramnik jugarán un duelo a 8 rondas (tanto en la modalidad de partidas de ajedrez rápido como relámpago).
Los 5 jugadores de los equipos nacionales femenino y absoluto de Rumanía disputarán un torneo de liga a 9 rondas (con 10 jugadores, en las modalidades de partidas rápidas y relámpago.
Controles de tiempo:
Ajedrez rápido: 15 minutos por partida, más 10 segundos de incremento a partir del primer movimeinto.
Ajedrez relámpago: 3 minutos por partida, más 2 segundos de incremento a partir del primer movimiento.
