¿Qué es Yamie Chess?
Yamie Chess® es un juego de ajedrez con piezas diseñadas para niños de entre 5 y 12 años, en una fábrica en Michigan (EE.UU.) La serie de materiales de aprendizaje Yamie Chess tiene la idea de alimentar el pensamiento cognitivo de los niños y su potencial intelectual relacionado con las matemáticas y sirve para reforzar a los profesores del "National Council of Teachers of Mathematics’ Curriculum Focal Points" en los ámbitos de álgebra, geometría, análisis de datos, medidas y lógica.

En Yamie Chess, los personajes se corresponden con las piezas de ajedrez clásicas. Diseñado para el aprendizaje de las matemáticas, y basado en la estructura del ajedrez clásico, Yamie Chess une los componentes lúdicos con el enfoque cognitivo a través de dibujos con el clásico juego de ajedrez. Se trabaja con la comprensión visual-espacial, de manera que los niños puedan explorar las matemáticas (sobre todo en los ámbitos del algebra y la geometría) a través del ajedrez y con dibujos y personajes que tienen sus propios carácteres y representan a los hombrecitos del ajedrez.

La idea es la de enlazar cada una de las piezas con un personaje con el cual se podrán identificar los niños
Los niños se acompañan a la hora de desrrollar las capacidades intelectuales a la hora de resolver problemas de matemáticas y de ajedrez, mientras que están jugando de manera interactiva, leen y exploran y pintan a la hora de aprender. (Los lápices vienen con el juego)

Connor Prikkel (8 años) fue el que aguantó más tiempo. Pero al final tuvo que darse por vencido.
Bueno, al fin y al cabo es Jennifer Shahade, que ha sido dos veces campeona de EE.UU. Felicita a Connor por haber estado tan cerca a las tablas.
