Jakovenko ha ganado tres partidas consecutivas y se ha colocado en la cima de la clasificación junto con Dmitry Andreikin. En la sección femenina encabezan Olga Girya y Alina Kashlinskaya. En total se disputarán once rondas. Las blancas acaban de tomar en e7 con el alfil y está amenazando ganar una calidad. Dicho eso, ese hecho es totalmente irrelevante debido a la posición perfecta de las piezas negras. Tras 26...Ce2+, la única casilla que le queda al rey blanco es f1 — desplazándose a h1 y eso sería seguido por ...Cf2 mate. Ahora el jugador de las negras podrá dar jaques a la descubierta todo el rato con el alfil a6. Y eso fue justamente lo que hizo Jakovenko. Iba ganando tiempo en el reloj mientras que seguía encontrando continuaciones que iban a conducir hacia la victoria. Siete movimientos lo encontró:
Las negras acaban de jugar 33...Tc2, y ahora las blancas cometieron el siguiente error decisivo: 34.Ce1. Tras 34...Cf4+ 35.Rg1 Txg2!, Sarana se rindió porque 36.Cxg2 Ch3+ 37.Rh1 Cef2# es inevitable.
