26/01/2020 – En la duodécima y penúltima ronda del torneo Tata Steel Chess, Fabiano Caruana ganó al anteriormente invicto Jan-Krzysztof Duda y se adjudicó la victoria del desafío previamente a la última ronda. Comenzando con su victoria frente a Daniil Dubov el sábado pasado, Fabiano Caruana demostró porque ha sido capaz de ser el número dos del mundo durante ya tanto tiempo. Tata Steel Chess 2020, ronda 13
La LXXXII edición del torneo se disputa entre el 10 al 26 del primer mes del año 2020. Se continuará con la tradición de disputar fuera de Wijk aan Zee, en esta ocasión una ronda. Será la quinta ronda del grupo Masters que se disputará en el Estadio de Fútbol Philips en Eindhoven.
Tanto el grupo A (Masters) como el grupo B (Challengers) contarán planteles de 14 jugadores. Las demás rondas en Wijk aan Zee se disputarán en el polideportivo "De Moriaan" como es lo habitual.

Fabiano Caruana gana el torneo Master Tata Steel
Fabiano Caruana, previamente a la última ronda, ha sumado 9 puntos en 12 partidas en Wijk aan Zee. Ha ganado 15,8 puntos Elo y en la lista oficiosa continúa de Elo actualmente figura con 2837,8. Es una valoración que únicamente ha sido superada por Magnus Carlsen y Garry Kasparov y el propio caruana en 2014, cuando tenía 2851,3.

Ritmo de juego
100 minutos por 40 movimientos, a continuación 50 minutos por los próximos 20 movimientos für 40 Züge, y finalmente 15 minutos para terminar la partida. Hay un incremento de tiempo de 30 segundos por movimiento a partir del comienzo de la partida.
Sistema de desempate
En el caso de que al final de la competició (tras 13 rondas), dos o más jugadores quedasen empatados por puntos, se disputaría un desempate en la modalidad de partidas de ajedrez relámpago.
