20/12/2017 – Entre el 19 y el 24 de diciembre se está disputando el Torneo Cascanueces ("Nutcracker", en inglés) en Moscú. Se disputarán los duelos "Reyes vs. Príncipes" y "Reinas vs. Princesas" en las modalidades de ajedrez clásico (del 19 al 22 de diciembre) y rápido (los días 23 y 24 de diciembre). El día 18 de diciembre se llevó a cabo el acto inaugural, durante el cual se homenajeó a la selección de Rusia femenina y se acercaron estrellas como, por ejemplo, Levon Aronian y su esposa Arianna Caoili, Sergey Karjakin o Yuri Averbakh. Los reyes contra quienes aspiran a reinar
Al igual que en años pasados, se disputa el Torneo Cascanueces en Moscú. En esta ocasión se enfrentarán "Reyes vs. Príncipes" y "Reinas vs. Princesas", primero en un torneo de ajedrez clásico a 4 partidas, y a continuación en un torneo de ajedrez relámpago a 8 partidas, por sistema Scheveningen a doble vuelta.
El torneo está organizado por la Federación Rusa de Ajedrez, Chess Creativity Support Foundation y el hombre de negocios Oleg Skvortsov.
La puntuación será de la siguente manera:
- 2 puntos por victoria en las partidas clásicas
- 1 punto por tablas en la partidas clásicas
- 0 puntos por derrota en las partidas clásicas
En las partidas de ajedrez rápido se asignan la mitad de puntos: 1 por victoria, 0,5 por tablas, 0 por derrota.
La ceremonia inaugural se llevó a cabo el día 18 en la Casa Central del Ajedrez de Moscú. Las jugadoras rusas recibieron un galardón especial por sus grandes éxitos en 2017, en las competiciones por equipos. Además acudieron diversos invitados especiales.
