2ºFestival Internacional de Catas Altas
La 2ª edición del Abierto Internacional de Catas Altas, celebrado del 10 al 12 de marzo en la Cervecería "La Violla", concluyó con la victoria del GM Alexandr Hilário Takeda Sakai dos Santos Fier, o simplemente Alex Fier, que se consagró campeón con 6.5/7, empatando el primer lugar con el GM Luis Paulo Supi, pero definiendo en los criterios de desempate.
El resto de los maestros que animaron el torneo quedaron con 5.5 puntos (MI Simon Languidey, GM Henrique Mecking, MF Diogo Duarte y MF Juliana Terao). El torneo contó con la presencia de 87 participantes.
La nueva edición del torneo, tuvo lugar a una exhibición por equipos, unas sesión de partidas simultáneas con el GM Supi y torneos de categorías menores sub-2000 y escolar.

El ánimo de jugar al ajedrez es enorme entre los "mineros". Apenas unos días después tuvimos un nuevo torneo, esta vez en la ciudad de Poços de Caldas. Del 17 al 19 se desarrolló la 7ª etapa del Circuito Abierto de Brasil, con presencia de 79 jugadores. El triunfo fue de MI Diego Rafael Di Berardino.
