09/08/2021 – Ayer concluyó el torneo "Chessable Masters" (disputado a través de internet) del Champions Chess Tour 2021. Wesley So había dominado el duelo en la primera jornada de la final contar Le Qang Liem (2,5:0,5) y ayer se coronó campeón al empatar 2:2 en la segunda jornada. Vladislav Artemiev se impuso a Levon Aronian tras 3 partidas. El primer duelo había terminado en 2:2 y ayer Artemiev se apuntó una victoria en la primera partida. El marcador quedó en 2,5:0,5 a favor de Artemiev. En la clasificación combinada de todos los torneos del Melwater Champions Chess Tour, Magnus Carlsen sigue en cabeza. Wesley So figura en el segundo puesto y Aronian en el tercero. Se trata del octavo y penúltimo torneo del Tour. Tras siete torneos cibernéticos manda Magnus Carlsen, seguido por Wesley So y Teimour Radjabov.
El último torneo del Champions Chess Tour 2020/2021 se disputará del 28 de agsto al 5 de septiembre y la gran final tocará del 25 de septiembre al 3 de octubre, en San Francisco.
Final: Wesley So vs. Le Quang Liem 2:2 (El duelo de la primera jornada había terminado 2,5:0,5 a favor de So.)
Después de que Le Quang Liem había flaqueado un poco en el duelo de la primera jornada de la final con Wesley So, en la segunda aprtida ganó la primera partida. Quizá una inspiración para los jugadores afcionados al Sistema Londinense.
La segunda partida concluyó en tablas y la tercera partida fue muy emocionante con posibilidades para ambos jugadores. Ganó So.
La cuarta partida concluyó en tablas. El resultado final de 2:2 en este segundo duelo de la final determinó a Wesley So como ganador del torneo, porque anteriormente había dominado el primer duelo de manera convincente.
