24/01/2025 – Javokhir Sindarov, el prodigio uzbeko de 19 años, participará en el torneo inaugural del Grand Slam de Ajedrez Freestyle en Weissenhaus. Sindarov, ex medallista de oro en las Olimpiadas de 2022 y quien en su momento se convirtiera en uno de los grandes maestros más jóvenes de la historia, sustituirá a Viswanathan Anand. Tras su impresionante actuación en la fase de clasificación online, Sindarov confesó sentirse ansioso por enfrentarse a Magnus Carlsen, Hikaru Nakamura y el resto de jugadores que componen el grupo de élite.

10/05/2018 – Nigel Short quiere ser presidente de la FIDE. Ha confirmado eso frente al "Aftenposten" (el periódico más importante de Noruega). El anuncio ha llegado en medio de una pelea fea entre el actual presidente, Krisan Ilyumzhinov y su vicepresidente, Georgios Makropoulos. Short entonces va a ser el tercer candidato que quiere entrar en la arena de las elecciones. "El ajedrez se merece una alternativa mejor", opinó el gran maestro inglés de 52 años.
