La empresa de ropa deportiva PUMA, junto con el Manchester City Football Club y Chess.com, lanza una charla exclusiva entre dos genios: Pep Guardiola del mundo del fútbol y Magnus Carlsen del mundo del ajedrez. Los dos embajadores de PUMA hablaron de momentos inolvidables de sus carreras, se explayaron sobre estrategias y tácticas en ambos deportes y compartieron algunos consejos y trucos con los aficionados.
"Me encanta el fútbol desde que era pequeño. Lo jugaba todos los días. No volvía a casa del colegio; me quedaba en la escuela para jugar al fútbol. Luego volvía a casa para jugar al ajedrez. Resultó que se me daba mejor el ajedrez, así que continué haciéndolo", comentó Magnus Carlsen, cinco veces campeón del mundo de ajedrez que actualmente compite en el Champions Chess Tour de Chess.com.
Pep y Magnus analizaron los objetivos y las jugadas específicas, haciendo hincapié en la importancia de la paciencia, la estrategia y la adaptación a las acciones del rival. Guardiola destaca la importancia de controlar el medio tanto en el fútbol como en el ajedrez, mientras que Carlsen establece similitudes entre atacar por un lado y crear ventajas. También debatieron sobre el papel del instinto y la imprevisibilidad a la hora de lograr el éxito.
La conversación profundizó en los aspectos mentales de las situaciones de alta presión, haciendo hincapié en la necesidad de mantener la calma y de ser flexible. Compartieron los puntos de vista de sus respectivos campos, mostrando el pensamiento estratégico y la maestría que se requieren en el fútbol y el ajedrez.
"Creo que la forma en que hay que llevarse a los defensas con el ataque depende del movimiento del adversario. Hay que prestar atención a lo que hace el adversario en cada movimiento y reaccionar ante ello". Magnus tiene dos horas para hacer el siguiente movimiento. Nosotros tenemos un segundo para reaccionar o tomar una decisión", explicó Pep.
La conversación concluyó con reflexiones sobre partidas prolongadas, con Carlsen recordando una partida de ajedrez de 7,5 horas (la sexta partida del match por el Campeonato del Mundo de Carlsen contra Ian Nepomniachtchi en 2021, que duró 136 movimientos y es la partida más larga jamás jugada en matches por el Campeonato del Mundo - Ed.) y Guardiola expresando su admiración por tal dedicación y concentración.
