Ayer se inauguró el XVI Campeonato de Europa Femenino en Chakvi, en la provincia georgiana de Ayaria. El lugar del encuentro es el hotel de cinco estrellas "Oazis Palace Chakvi". El torneo se disputa por sistema suizo a 11 rondas. El control de tiempo es de 90 minutos para 40 movimientos, más 30 minutos para finalizar la partida, con 30 segundos de incremento por movimiento.
La bolsa de premios asciende a 60.000 euros, de los cuales 11.000 euros están reservados para la ganadora. Las 14 mejores además se clasificarán para participar en el próximo campeonato del mundo fememino por sistema de eliminatorias.
Se han inscrito casi 100 participantes. Las georgianas Nana Dzagnidze y Bela Kotenashvili son las dos favoritas según sus valoraciones Elo. El país anfitrión, Georgia, está representado por 30 jugadoras. De tener el segundo contingente más grande puede presumir Rusia, con 17 jugadoras.
