El sábado en la undecima partida, Sergey Karjakin sorprendió a Carlsen realizando el saque de honor y jugando 1.b4. Carlsen optó por no aceptar la propuesta (planteada en plan de broma) y prefirió jugar una crítica línea de la Petrov que se había visto en el vídeo secreto, publicado por un descuido del equipo de Caruana previamente a la cuarta partida. Aún así, también esta partida concluyó en tablas. El marcador está en 5,5:5,5 previamente a la última partida.
