Y, cómo no, su buen amigo GM Dr. Helmut Pfleger ha escrito el prólogo en plan de presentación.

Foreword to the 2024 Chess Calendar
Prólogo al calendario de ajedrez 2024, por Dr. Helmut Pfleger
El Dr. med. Jan Wähner trabaja como médico internista y gastroenterólogo en un hospital de Berlín. Pero también es fotógrafo y artista, o sea que, un "médico artista" que además ha creado la atractiva página web del ajedrez para médicos, en la que se pueden encontrar varios reportajes ilustrados muy interesantes sobre el 31º Campeonato Alemán de Ajedrez de Médicos.
Los artefactos de "médico ajedrecista" del Dr. Wähner son especialmente populares en las ceremonias de entrega de premios y homenajes. Mi habitación de ajedrez, por ejemplo, está adornada con un maravilloso "Rey Esculapio" de él, que recibí en el último torneo de Bad Homburg en marzo de 2023 - ¡pocas veces un premio me ha gustado tanto!
Para 2024 Jan tiene la intención de publicar otro calendario de ajedrez con sus inimitables fotografías y composiciones artísticas, relacionadas con el ajedrez. En un conmovedor comentario pictórico, por ejemplo, los tanques en la plaza de Tiananmen en 1989 ruedan hacia un solitario peón blanco, en un tablero de ajedrez, tras la masacre de cientos de inocentes. Es un símbolo apto del "hombre tanque", este manifestante desconocido de camisa blanca.
Me encantaría que este singular calendario de ajedrez colgara en las paredes de muchos hogares el año que viene, quizá incluso en los de los no ajedrecistas, y les acompañara hasta 2024.

Esta última imagen hace referencia al 'Hombre Tanque' (también conocido como el Manifestante Desconocido), el hombre chino no identificado que se situó frente a una columna de tanques que salía de la plaza de Tiananmen en Pekín el 5 de junio de 1989, el día después de que el gobierno chino masacrara a cientos de manifestantes.
