Tras sus victorias en la primera ronda frente a Fabiano Caruana y en la segunda con negras sobre Georg Meier, en la tercera ronda, la china logró empatar con el Campeón del Mundo, Magnus Carlsen. Hou Yifan manda con 2,5/3. Hoy es el día de descanso, para el traslado de la prueba a Baden-Baden.

Grenke Chess Classic tras 3 rondas
Tal y como habíamos esperado, la tercera ronda del Grenke Chess Classic brindó partidas muy intresantes. El duelo más anhelado fue entre Hou Yifan y Magnus Carlsen. Pero la partida no resultó ser tan excitante como podría haber sido, teniendo en cuenta que Magnus Carlsen se mostró ambicioso y planteó una Siciliana Najdorf. Carlsen se enredó y su timidez fue castigada con unas tablas por Hou Yifan.

Probablemente Hou Yifan se llevó una sopresa al ver la apertura elegida por el Campeón del Mundo y optó por el sólido 5.a4 que ha alcanzado cierta popularidad gracias al gran maestro estadounidense, Gata Kamsky. Tras el movimiento de Carlsen …e5, Hou Yifan optó por una continuación sólida en la que se iban a cambiar muchas de las pieza menores. El mediojuego que surgió a continuación estaba igualado y no había mucha acción. Las piezas activas del bando negro, compensaban la mejor estructura de peones de las blancas. Entre los movimientos 22 y 26, Carlsen sintió la necesidad de hacer algo y planteó el movimiento (demasiado) optimista 22…. b5?!. Pero tras unos fuertes movimientos por parte de Hou Yifan, las blancas alcanzaron una clara ventaja, sin que hubiese contraataque por parte de las negras. Es más, cuando Hou Yifan decidió dejarlo en eso y optó por 27.Rxb5 y Cxd5, en realidad aún podría haber atacado más con movimientos como, por ejemplo, h4 o Ta1. La partida concluyó en tablas.
