28/01/2019 – Tras unas tablas contra Anish Giri en la última ronda del torneo, Magnus Carlsen se coronó campeón del torneo Tata Steel Chess por séptima vez en su carrera. Dejó el marcador final en 9 puntos en 13 rondas. Anish Giri quedó subcampeón con 8,5/13 puntos. Los puestos tres a cinco, los ocuparon Ian Nepomniachtchi, Ding Liren y Vishy Anand con 7,5/13 puntos cada uno. En el grupo Challengers Vladislav Kovalev conquistó la victoria con una ventaja de 1,5 puntos frente a su más cercano perseguidor, Stefan Kuipers. Fue la séptima vez en que Magnus Carlsen se adjudicó la victoria en el grupo Masters del torneo Tata Steel Chess en Wijk aan Zee.
Un repertorio de confianza para que los iniciandos puedan dedicar tiempo al trabajo de fondo: cálculo, patrones de mediojuego, planes típicos y dominio de los finales básicos.
100 minutos por 40 movimientos, a continuación 50 minutos por los próximos 20 movimientos für 40 Züge, y finalmente 15 minutos para terminar la partida. Hay un incremento de tiempo de 30 segundos por movimiento a partir del comienzo de la partida.
Sistema de desempate
En el caso de que al final de la competició (tras 13 rondas), dos o más jugadores quedasen empatados por puntos, se disputaría un desempate en la modalidad de partidas de ajedrez relámpago.
