"Four Corners" es un reto múltiple que se desarrolla en el ambiente criminal y volátil en la subcultura sudafricana. A veces duro y violento y otras veces conmovedor y franco. Las vidas de Farakhan, Leila, Tito y Gasant se entremezclan alrededor de Ricardo, tratando temas universales como el amor, la pérdida, la amistad, la traición y la salvación.
Ciudad del Cabo, la prisión de máxima seguridad, Pollsmoor. Cuando Farakhan (Brendon Daniels), un miembro del grupo "Numbers Gang", es excarcelado tras 13 años, quiere comenzar una vida tranquila y flotar "en un río de paz". Pero está volviendo a un mundo todavía más violento que él que conocía antes de que le metieran en la cárcel. Ahora, unos grupos criminales están controlando las barriadas y en las calles se venden armas y drogas abiertamente. Además están desapareciendo niños que caen víctimas a un asesino en serie. Ricardo (Jezriel Skei), de 13 años, se encuentra en el cruce de la vida. Es un prodigio de ajedrez y se le aguardan la guerra en las calles y sobre el tablero por partes iguales y está en peligro de ser seducido por el prestigio de poder apuntarse a un grupo de jóvenes criminales muy potentes. El carismático líder del grupo, un joven americano, llamado Gasant (Irshaad Ally) hace que Ricardo vaya tomando los primeros pasos por el camino de la iniciación en el mundo criminal. Al no tener un padre que le pudiera servir de buen ejemplo, el único adulto que tiene influencia en él es el capitán Tito Hanekom (Abduragman Adams), un policía que está persiguiendo a un asesino múltiple, que ha matado a varios adolescentes. Cuando de repente desaparece otro más, Tito pierde de vista a Ricardo.
Mientras tanto, Leila Domingo (Lindiwe Matshikiza) una doctora que ha estudiado en Londres, regresa a su casa para asistir al funeral de su padre que ha fallecido. Los recuerdos que le provoca la casa de sus padres, en un barrio que ahora forma parte de la zona peligrosa de guerra en las calles, le provocan unas emociones contradictorias y lucha para decidir qué hacer con su vida. Se cruzan los caminos de Leila y Farakhan, y lo reconoce como el niño que vivía en la casa de al lado y se deja arrastrar por su mundo.
