Como único evento que sigue formando parte del Grand Chess Tour desde su primera edición en 2015, la Sinquefield Cup sigue siendo un elemento esencial del circuito del GCT.
La última parada de la gira de este año contará con ocho regulares del tour y dos comodines: el campeón del mundo Magnus Carlsen y la estrella emergente estadounidense Hans Niemann, que se incorporó tras la retirada de Richard Rapport.
Se concederán 175.000 dólares adicionales a los tres primeros clasificados en la tabla general del circuito. En caso de empate en el primer puesto de la clasificación general, se celebrará un desempate el 12 de septiembre.
Los jugadores reciben 90 minutos para 40 jugadas, seguidos de 30 minutos hasta el final de la partida, además de 30 segundos adicionales por jugada desde el inicio del encuentro.
